In this assignment, you will create a human pedigree detailing the inheritance of a genetic disease or disorder that is controlled by one gene in a dominant or recessive manner. The pedigree must contain at least five generations and include examples of all the symbols associated with pedigree analysis, including non-afflicted, disease trait carriers and fully afflicted individuals, male and female members, marriage lines, sibling lines, and lines of descent, and both living and deceased familial members. Include a legend with a definition of each symbol. The pedigree must show at least one marriage event in each generation. Each generation, and each individual, must be numbered as is customary for authentic human pedigrees. You can either use Shapes (circles, squares, and lines) in PowerPoint to create your pedigree, another graphics program you are familiar with, or you can draw the pedigree neatly by hand, take a picture and insert the picture into a PowerPoint slide. Another alternative is to record a video of you explaining the pedigree as you draw it! You cannot simply find an image of a pedigree online to use, you must create your own.
