You will need a die or another method of simulating an event with a probability of 1/3. Roll your die. If the side with one or two spots lands on top, this will rep~ resent the event of buying a box of Frosted Flakes and getting a Reggie Jackson poster. If one of the other sides lands on top, roll again. Count the number of rolls until you get a one or a two.
a. Make a histogram of the number of rolls the students in your class require to get their first Reggie Jackson poster.
b. Describe the shape of this distribution.
c. What was the average number of "boxes" purchased to get a Reggie Jackson poster?
d. Estimate the chance that Reggie would have to buy eight or more boxes to get his poster.
e. What assumptions are made in this simulation about the distribution of the prizes? Do you think they are reasonable ones?
