Problem:

Sustainability in island setting seeks to preserve an extensively shared stream of income by creating an adaptive competitive destination by the ongoing guidance of participatory community planning devoid of unacceptably sacrificing socio-cultural and natural integrity of the asset base (McElroy and Albuquerque, 2002). On the other hand, Jafari (2000) argues that tourism has always been the double-edged sword for islanders.

Required:

Question 1: With an appreciation of differing opinions of both authors, illustrate out three (3) main characteristics of island tourism.

Question 2: Using instances, discuss any two (2) challenges which a land-locked country might face in developing its tourism destination as compared to the island

Question 3: In an attempt to support Jafari’s argument, illustrate out:
