Preparing yourself for the job market- Remember as you enter your career that you are NOT just trying to "market" yourself to an organization, you need to assess whether what they offer YOU is a good fit for your needs and for your personal growth. We've talked a lot about getting ready for the job market in terms of where to look, how to network, and how to make yourself a good candidate with a strong resume and interviewing ideas. Let's look at things from YOUR point of view! What would it take for an organization to be the kind of place you would want to work for? Do you want to work pretty much independently, or do you want a workplace with a lot of support from your manager and co-workers? Do you want a workplace where you can be flexible and work remotely some or all of the time, or would you rather be in an office environment?
List 3 things that you consider really important to look for in an organization that you would consider joining. If you have trouble generating ideas, think back to the values that we talked about early on in the class. Which values would be most important for you to seek out in an organization?
