You are saving your company money by putting your project planning skills to use. You are given the following hypothetical work breakdown structure about a new building site your company is going to move into.
1. Prepare the site (3 days), and then set the building footers (3 days).
2. Finish the foundation (5 days) and then assemble the building (3 days).
3. When the building is assembled, start two tasks at once: finish the interior work (5 days) and set up an appointment for the final building inspection (15 days).
4. When the interior work is done, start two more tasks at once: landscaping (7 days) and driveway paving (3 days).
5. When the landscaping and driveway are done, do the painting (2 days).
6. Finally, when the painting is done and the final inspection has occurred, arrange the sale (2 days).
Use either MS Word or MS Project to complete the following tasks from the information above:
1. What is the correct total time?
2. What is the critical path?
3. Create a Gantt chart that shows the WBS.
4. Create a PERT/CPM chart.
Part II
You have an opportunity to expand your business to include the auto repair industry. Your new services include selling auto parts, running tests on customers' cars, and delivering parts and tools to mechanic shops around town.
Use MS Word or MS Visio to create:
1. List 3 possible actors for this new business endeavor.
2. Create a use case diagram with at least three use cases for your operation.
3. Select one of the use cases and create a class diagram with 2 classes that have 3 attributes and 2 methods each.
4. Create an activity diagram for one of the actors in your use case with 3 activities.
