Advantages
- Less traumatic to surrounding tissue
- Faster progress to the impression procedure
- No sutures required
Disadvantages
- There is a loss of keratini-ed tissue and this can lead to a compromised soft tissue barrier in cases where there is deficiency of attached tissue.
- Needs more instrumentation and correct localisation of implant under the soft tissue is critical
