Application: Benefits and Drawbacks of IT Outsourcing
IT outsourcing has both benefits and drawbacks. Outsourcing can lead to increased profits for customers and vendors, more work for vendors, and increased revenue generation. On the other hand, outsourcing can result in a product that does not meet the customer's requirements or a project that goes beyond the estimated time and cost, to name a few possible outcomes.
For a customer, the decision to outsource is based on the assessment of the benefits and drawbacks of outsourcing.
Perform the following tasks:
i. Research the benefits and drawbacks of IT outsourcing on the Internet and in magazines, journals, and newspapers.
ii. List the benefits and drawbacks of IT outsourcing in a table format.
iii. Report five examples each of the benefits and drawbacks of IT outsourcing.
