Case Scenario - Sasha (part 1)
Sasha is a 4-year-old girl who recently enrolled in the Little Catalysts ELC. She has a rare and severe form of Muscular Dystrophy and uses a wheelchair for mobility. In cooperation with Cassie (Sasha's mother), the educators are developing an Individual Education Plan (IEP) for Sasha so she can achieve her goals and desired learning outcomes as well as feel a strong sense of belonging and connection to the service.
During the afternoon pick-up on Sasha's second day, one of the Lead Educators catches up with Cassie to check in and also talk about some ideas, following on from observations the other educators have made so far.
The Lead Educator discusses with Cassie how happy Sasha has been during outdoor activities and asks for her ideas on a possible activity that Sasha might enjoy. Cassie suggests a mini-garden project.
The Lead Educator thinks this is a great idea and tells Cassie she will incorporate this into Sasha's IEP and then share the updated plan with her.
