Your analysis of the selected issue “Torture”, needs to include each of these dynamics. Specifically,
1) What are the key legal issues of torture associated with this area of international law?
2) What are some exemplary cases of torture that have been or are being adjudicated by any of the various international legal bodies (ICJ, ICC, European Court system, Latin American Court system, Arab League, African Union, etc.)? There’re some cases I want you to include surrounding torture such as Abu Gharib during Iraq war, Guantanamo, and Iraqi occupation of Kuwait. Note, just discuss the cases of tortur not the wars.
3) What international legal documents – treaties, conventions, covenants, etc – are relevant for tortur in this area of law?
4) To what extent do you think international law has been successful in addressing Torture? What still needs to be done in this regard – additional legal agreements, additional legal organizations, better enforcement, etc.
