Learn how to identify triggers

Problem:

The best type of education I could provide for a patient with an eating disorder, specifically anorexia is to find a support system, have a line of open communication, and learn how to identify triggers. It would be best to have the patient help with their plan of care, and offer suggestions like meal planning, starting with small frequent meals/snacks throughout the day (Dugan, 2022). Eating disorders are hard to diagnose and hard to treat. The patient needs to know that they are not alone, and they will need help building an outpatient support system. Without a support system the patient will easily fall back into their old habits of starvation. It is important to not only help the patient identify who their outpatient support system will be, but also to meet with these people, and help them identify triggers and warning signs that the patient is not doing well.
