Leadership theory and practice

Assignment task:

Brooks had a very interesting way of leading this team to victory and it worked for him. However, I believe some of them would need counseling after being put into such extreme measures. Brooks had several clear goals for the team. For instance, he wanted to become their enemy to motivate them to become closer as a team. He showed a Results-Driven structure by having outside players come in and try out on the team and it upset the team that they confronted him and told him he needed to stop because they already established ownership amongst the members. He had competent team members by recruiting people from different backgrounds. Brooks demonstrated unified commitment on the team by never letting the media make it seem like one player was better than another. I think the best thing Brooks did was to hire Craig Patrick to be the nurturer for the team. That allowed them to have moments of a safe place. I think that allowed them to have a collaborative climate. Brooks was able to gain standards of excellence through the team by making them feel pressure to perform at their highest levels. I believe that Brooks knew that he was exceptionally hard and that if he didn't bring in Craig Patrick and an external support system and recognition that the team would not have been able to stand against the demands that he put on them day after day. Patrick focused on emotional support while Brooks continued helping them develop new skills. Through Brooks's principled leadership he was able to help the team handle stressful situations which lead them to win the game.
