Leadership and economic models of health care play an important role in optimizing evidence-based practice (EBP) and improving patient outcomes. Strong leadership helps create a culture that supports change, teamwork, and continuous improvement (Sartini et al., 2022). Nurse leaders encourage staff to use current evidence when making clinical decisions and help guide implementation of new practices. In the emergency department, leadership is especially important when addressing issues such as overcrowding, long wait times, and patient satisfaction. Effective leaders also provide education, support, and communication that help staff feel more confident when adapting to practice changes.
Economic models in health care focus on using resources efficiently while still providing high-quality care. Hospitals must balance patient outcomes with financial responsibilities. For example, implementing fast-track systems and improved triage protocols in the emergency department can reduce wait times, improve patient flow, and decrease unnecessary healthcare costs. Although implementing new processes may initially require staff training and additional resources, improving efficiency can lower costs related to extended patient stays, overcrowding, and patient dissatisfaction (Rasouli et al., 2019). Evidence-based interventions supported by leadership and financial planning care improve both patient care and organizational outcomes.
Leadership and economic models work together to support EBP by ensuring that healthcare organizations are using research-supported interventions in a financially responsible way. When nurse leaders promote evidence-based changes and organizations allocate resources appropriately, patient safety, quality of care and satisfaction can improve significantly. Need Assignment Help?
