Kinematics-displacement and acceleration

Question 1: A small child throws a rock vertically downward with an initial velocity of 6.0 m/s from the top of a 225 m building. How far does the rock travel in the first 6.0 seconds of its drop?

Question 2: A ball is thrown vertically upwards into the air with a velocity of 18.3 m/s. How long will it be in the air?

Question 3: By using the position graph shown below:

a) Find out the velocity of A.
b) Find out the velocity of B.
c) Compute how much farther than B, A will travel, if they move for 2.00 minutes.

Question 4: By using the velocity time graph:

a) Find out the displacement of A at 40.0s.
b) Find out the displacement of B at 40.0s.
c) Find out the accelerations of both A and B.

Question 5: A boat is headed north on a river which flows due west at a velocity of 8.0 m/s. If the resultant velocity of the boat is 13.5 m/s 26° west of north, determine the northerly directed speed of the boat?

Question 6: An object is thrown horizontally at a velocity of 18.0 m/s from the top of a 1.34 x 102 m building. Compute the distance from the base of the building that the object will land.

Question 7: An object was thrown horizontally from the top of a 1281 m building. If this object hits the ground 140 m from the building then determine its horizontal velocity?

Question 8: A football player kicks a football at an angle of 38° with the horizontal at a velocity of 28 m/s. Supposing a player who is to receive this ball is 49 m away from the ball when it is kicked, how fast should he run to catch the ball before it hits the ground?
