Sarah lives in Chester, NJ near a closed landfill. Justine is her friend and also lives in Chester, but on the opposite side of town and not near the landfill. Sarah’s house is directly across the street from the closed landfill and she recently found out that the water in her well, and the wells of her neighbors on her street only, may be contaminated from the effects of the landfill. Sarah is very upset and tells Justine. Sarah, unfortunately, cannot afford to pay a lawyer to sue the town for the environmental issues. Justine then says that she will sue the town for the environmental issues instead of Sarah. Justine then files a lawsuit and the town responds that Justine lacked standing to sue. Is the town correct?
