The Office of Justice Programs consists of several bureaus and divisions. CLICK HERE to see those 5 entities (the 2nd level of the hierarchy). Each of those entities provides funding and other types of support for various segments of the justice system. This 2014 Program Plan lists links to several initiatives designed to address various problems in the justice system. For example, Section 1 describes solicitations to “address a wide range of criminal and juvenile justice issues.”
Pick one of the links. Describe the purpose of the initiative and discuss its potential for research in this area to impact policy, and/or to provide support for community-based justice programs and services. Can funding provided through this initiative actually make an impact on the problem? If so, how? What might be the best way to spend funds to address the problem and why?
