Just like an American citizen would need to serve their sentence of however many years in jail, on probation or the death sentence, etc. to fit their crime. If we are giving terrorists a fair trial it also shows the rest of the world that America will do what it takes to bring the person who brought harm to our country to justice and we will not give up until it is done right.
