It has been shown that some chemicals are harmful to the environment. Many of these chemicals can enhance production of crops that are needed to feed the hungry. Some companies that produce chemicals used in agriculture feel they are helping (seeMcKinsey & Company). Other organizations argue against the use of chemicals (seePAN North America). How do you separate fact from opinion? How do you justify prohibiting the use of some pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers when the increase in agricultural products could help resolve hunger in this country and throughout the world?
