Issues related to liability in service provision

Problem: The right to personal liberties is a closely held value in the United States and is reflected in multiple amendments of the U.S. Constitution; however, these rights are not always extended to those with developmental disabilities. Rather, a greater emphasis has been placed on habilitation or normalizing individuals with developmental disabilities through local, state and federal laws and initiatives. As a result, people with disabilities, especially those with severe disabilities, may find themselves trapped in a system of care where their postschool choices are determined by others because of barriers related to attitudes, funding, rehabilitation, and healthcare.

On the other side, service providers are concerned with issues related to liability in service provision.

Consider the "con" side of this issue, what are research that examine the professional and ethical dilemmas involved in the cons of the "right to personal liberties in individuals with disabilities".
