Biology and Environmental Science Chlorophyll is an important part of photosynthesis in plants and is also present in microscopic algae and other phytoplankton. A random sample of 20 locations along the western coastline of the United States was selected. Using fluorometry, the quantity of chlorophyll in the surface water was measured (in mg/m3 ) in early April and in late August. The pairwise differences (April measurement 2 August measurement) are given in the following table.
