Problem: To say things like the Alamo, The Texas Republic and the Wild West is to conjure images and ideas of a past that may not entirely be accurate. So my question is this: Is the use of a mythology in history always bad? Is the use of this mythology harmful? Does it make it less likely for people to know or even understand the truth of our shared past and what does that say for the role or that same mythology in our future?
