Read the article, "A Second Look at the Big Squeeze" linked in the Study Materials section. Then write a 500- to 750-word paper (approximately 2 to 3 pages) discussing the following:
- What is the topic of the article?
- What is the thesis (central argument) of the article?
- Where is the thesis located in the article? Is it explicitly stated?
- Is the article organized chronologically or topically? Why do you think the author organized the article this way?
- What sort of evidence does the author use to support the thesis (government documents, original manuscripts or letters, oral interviews, statistical data, other author's articles/books, etc.)?
- Do you think this is a worthwhile article on the topic? Why or why not?
This should be written as an extended, formal writing assignment, not just simply answering the questions. You will be graded not only on content, but on analytical depth and sentence construction as well. The paper should be double spaced, using a formal writing style and appropriate language, spelling, and punctuation.
