Is it normal protocol of a school to hold screenings

Problem

Screenings and assessments both have a place in school and can be very helpful for teachers and staff. Screenings can help to identify immediate health needs, and need for additional evaluations, are quick to administer, and do not help to diagnose health conditions. Assessments have multiple domains of function and gather key information to help identify health concerns. When determining what assessment we need to use we should look at six different types of assessments. They are diagnostic assessments, formative assessments, summative assessments, Ipsative assessments, Norm-referenced assessments, and Criterion references assessments. The best way to determine which assessments are the best for the student you are working with is to observe and do different screenings first. By doing this you are going to pick up on some of the struggles the student is having and then determine which assessment is the best for the signs the student is showing.
