Is it natural for people to notice their own biases

Problem: It is natural for people to notice their own biases, but when it comes to identifying those biases in others, that's a different matter. Internal retargeting, the same process, takes practice. A very good way to do this is to hold oneself to the same standard one would apply to another person's conclusions when considering whether a conclusion is based on evidence or on assumptions that are not challenged. Journaling, asking for honest feedback, and intentionally consuming the other side of the coin are helpful tools to use to go inward with that critical eye. It's a good mental exercise, but an uncomfortable emotional exercise. There is a neutrality to the change of worldview when one really strives to live in a worldview that is different than their own, something like cognitive friction at first. The pain, however, is a sign of growth and not withdrawal, over time. One's ability to completely experience another's point of view is still emerging. A different perspective can be comprehended in the mind without being reflected in the heart. Perspectives are malleable, yet they can only be partly captured in the imagination; they are also shaped by lived experiences, cultural background, and personal loss. Need Assignment Help?
