Is hamlets procrastination in seeking revenge for the

You have done a very detailed reading of Hamlet. Based on that reading, write a 1000-word, thesis-driven essay that responds to one of the following:

• Is Hamlet's procrastination in seeking revenge for the murder of his father reasonable? Refer to specific scenes in the play when answering this question. Young Fortinbras and Laertes serve as foils to Hamlet, in that they are far more quickly moved to action. Your discussion should include these two men.

• To what degree is Hamlet merely acting mad? Do we have indication that he slips from feigned madness to true madness? Again, refer to specific scenes when composing your answer.

• More generally, discuss the contrast in the play between play-acting and honest behavior. There is much material you could incorporate in your answer: Hamlet acts mad, Ophelia becomes mad; Claudius acts sorrowful over King Hamlet's death, but of course he murdered the king; the players act out of scene from The Murder of Gonzugo that closely resembles the actual murder of King Hamlet; and, of course, Hamlet himself comments on acting at various points in the play. A good response will be highly specific.

Have a clear thesis that you comprehensively support throughout your essay. Cite passages from the text and your sources to support your thesis.

Cite at least four critical sources from the Pellissippi library, including sources from the literary databases. Use MLA citation and have a Works Cited page. Use this format to refer to specific scenes: 3.3.32-33 (That is, Act 3, Scene 3, lines 32-33).
