Post-Conflict Case Study in Sudan

Introduction: Involved in war for decades, Sudan has gradually become one of the world's most ill-developed countries. After liberating from Sudan, the newly founded sovereign state of South Sudan, with its rich oil reserves have now become the primary target of attacks. The clash between Sudan and South Sudan has turned into a means of mass destruction of human life and natural resources. But recently there has been a development observed in the context of the conflict. Today, Sudan and South Sudan are going through a phase which is apparently a post-conflict one, but the trail of conflict has not been observed to be one that is going to end so quickly. The primary objective of this research paper would be elaborate on the post-conflict status of Sudan putting special emphasis on the implications of the conflict between the two states and the ways through which the conflict could have been mitigated.

Aims and Objectives: The primary aim of the research paper is to explore, analyze, interpret and then discuss about the conflict that has brought about disaster for both Sudan and South Sudan, and to ascertain the actual nature of the post-conflict phase through which both the countries are now going.

The objective of the research paper would be to find answers to the following research questions:

1. What did cause the conflict between Sudan and South Sudan?

2. What have been the implications of the conflict?

3. What strategies could have been taken to prevent the conflict?

4. What is the actual nature of the post-conflict phase in Sudan and South Sudan?
