Invest money into treating diseases instead of preventing

Assignment Task:

What are your thoughts/ do you agree or disagree on someone saying more money should be allocated towards treating the disease more than it should be invested to prevent the disease because while trying to prevent the disease from taking place in somebody, I think finding a more efficient way to treat it is more important. Speaking realistically, I don't think every single person in Canada is willing to put that much effort into their health. Some chose not to according to their own will and some can't due to reasons which may be stopping them from taking care of their health, whatever it may be. If it cost over 18 billion in 1998 alone and over 22 billion in 2010, with the pandemic taking place, it can easily cost double the amount. Not everyone is able to maintain a healthy diet, stand at a healthy weight, get in enough exercise, quit smoking, quit drinking, stop taking medicine that only increases the risk of a heart attack, overdose on drugs or just to not stress. All those things are not attainable for every single person in Canada, speaking realistically. If more money was invested into preventing these diseases, more money will be lost and the problem might only get bigger. I think it is really important to invest into treating the diseases in a more efficient and wise way. Of course there is going to be a lot of trial and error with coming up with a better treatment, which means a lot of money will be lost in the process. But thinking about the end goal once it has been figured out will only make lives more easier in the long run. There will be more room in hospitals, it won't be as crowded and not many people will be hospitalized for a long period of time due to the diseases. Spending more money into preventing the diseases isn't that reliable in my opinion. Nobody can push one's beliefs and wishes onto another person and expect them to start investing more in their quality of life just because some random stranger told them the dangers of living the life they want to live. They can chose to care or not, some can't chose to invest in themselves and look after themselves and some can't afford to. Sure, if everyone in Canada takes care of themselves and putting in the necessary measures to live a better quality of life, then investing more money into preventing the diseases will seem logical and sensible. But not everyone can, it is more important to invest more money into treating diseases instead of preventing them.
