Intriguingly, although persuasion obviously works (or else marketers, politicians, media pundits, etc. would be in deep trouble), most people do not view themselves as persuadable, per se. We often desire to cling to a notion that we have arrived at a belief, decision, opinion, etc. all on our own.

But this class is smarter than that! You are quite aware that you have been persuaded in the past and will be in the future. As a result, I want you to think of a time when you were persuaded. Why was the rhetor(s) successful in changing your mind? What persuasive techniques did s/he (they) use? How did s/he (they) deal with any “push-back” you may have had?
