1. ASSIGNMENT: ATTEND AN AA OPEN MEETING
Attend a Alcoholics Anonymous Open Meeting. Open meetings are open to the public, however, "only alcoholics may share (AA Directory)." Go to the Orange County Alcoholics Anonymous website at oc-aa.org for the meeting directory. SUBMIT YOUR EXPERIENCE, not details of the meeting, ON THE DISCUSSION LIST. Do not use the last names of participants at the meeting.
2. ASSIGNMENT: REFLECTIVE REPORT
Incorporating the textbook, discuss the key points that you have learned in this class. What issues have challenged you the most? Has anything you learned changed your thinking in a significant way? What did you like the most about this class? What did you like the least? What changes do you think would make the class better?
3. INTERVIEW
Interview someone who has been in recovery and discuss their strengths, challenges, process of treatment including relapse prevention strategies, family dynamics and dual diagnosis if it applies. You may change the interviewee's name for confidential purposes. An alternative assignment is available if you are unable to interview a person in recovery, however, a request must be made by the second week of class.
