International trade can be one of the more contentious

International trade can be one of the more contentious political topics in our country. Examples from importing goods from other countries to outsourcing labor offshore leads to major political debate on both sides of the aisle.

One point we often miss in international trade is that, opening the economy up to trade may increase employment. Automakers are great examples of this - as sales of Toyota, Honda, etc. have increased, these foreign firms have opened factories in the U.S.

In what other ways can international trade create jobs? What other examples can you think of?
