Problem: Our organization has many internal processes focused on patient centered care, this year we are focusing on reaching our target of rate of inpatient falls, medication reconciliation on admission, surgical safety checklist, hand hygiene compliance policies, and infectious measures. In order to analyze the rate of inpatient falls, data is retrieved to include the total number of fall risk patients within our inpatient facilities (Matarese et al., 2014). By gathering that information, we are now able to identify if any actual fall risk patients encounter falls during their stay within our facility. Using this data in comparison to previous years will provide asufficient target for our strategic planning process of future years. This research method would be similar to obtaining analytical data for identifying KPI's for other areas of planning such as infectious measures and medication reconciliation. Identifying the source of related infectious disease; outlining parameters to determine areas of infection within the facility would be key. While working closely with the director of our infection control department we can identify and compare the data. Information retrieved from prior years and current years will help to determine contract tracing, response time to outbreaks, and level of outbreak, to gauge the target goals of our KPI.
