Problem:
Mrs. Jeanne Maurice, the Mauritian by birth left Mauritius just after the independence to settle in London. She joined the British civil service and served in Health Department as a nursing officer for years. In the meantime she obtained the British nationality but didn’t renounce her Mauritian nationality i.e. she has dual nationality.
She has retired from her work since 2006 and has returned back to Mauritius where she intends to live for rest of her life. She acquires a pension from U.K which is remitted to Mauritius every month.
She has written to you as she wants to know whether she is responsible to income tax in Mauritius on her retirement pension.
