Use the following steps to determine the phase of Venus in each position in both the geocentric and helio-centric systems. In each position in its orbit, color in the side of Venus that is not getting light, the side facing away from the Sun.
In the five circles along the bottom of the page, color in the appearance of Venus as seen from Earth in each of the five corresponding positions in its orbit. In which system, geocentric or heliocentric (circle one), do the actual phases shown below occur?
