Diagnostic writing assignment
A response to Adrienne Rich's "Claiming an Education," helped assess your reading skills.
Poet Adrienne Rich speaks to women whose educations have been thwarted by both external and internal influences. Her most powerful message points out the many ways students fail to claim their educations and therefore fail themselves. In other words, in what ways do these students claim, or not claim, their educations? Begin by thinking about yourself and what you learned about your fellow classmates in Class Discussion 2. For example, are you "active" or "passive" learners? Perhaps you're both. Refer to specific details from Rich's writing, and use your personal experience (personal examples and anecdotes) to support your argument.
