Readings for Journal 4 - Along with having completed reading up to page 164 in a Whisper of Angels, read the following two articles in the Gender, a Reader for Writers: "How Big Are Your Balls?" pages 124-128 and The High Cost of Manliness" page 130-134. Respond to the following: One reader of A Whisper of Angels said that Nicholas was too "feminine" for her taste. In what ways might he have more traditional feminine traits? What about Henry, where does he rate on the "manliness scale"? Give examples. Also, in this section its discovered that Henry now has a relationship with a young woman. Reflect on whether you think Henry has the relationship to please his family and society or if he might really have formed a bond and attraction to Shelley.
