In victims in the system the authors speak about a dilemma

The following site will be useful as well -- https://www.victimsofcrime.org/help-for-crime-victims/get-help-bulletins-for-crime-victims/victims%27-rights.  This site discusses such issues as, "What are victims' rights?", "Who may exercise victims' rights?", and "What is the process of applying for compensation?"  This should be useful.

For this week's discussion, please respond to one or both of the following questions. In your reply to the questions, be sure to cite some of this material from these readings.

1) In "Victims in the System", the authors speak about a dilemma in the criminal justice system. While trying to help victims as best as it can, the criminal justice system often causes victims to feel that they have been "revictimized".

Explain what they mean by this. What should be done to prevent this sense of "revictimization"?

2) The authors also speak about crimes that go unreported. They even list some of the reasons why people don't report crimes that have been committed against them. Please discuss three or more of these reasons. It is important that you put your ideas into your own words. Also, explain what can be done to encourage people to report crimes that have been committed against them.

Post your response here as a reply to Discussion #2. Your response should be a minimum of two paragraphs long. Also, read the responses of other students in the class.
