Class, welcome to our week 1 discussion. In this section, we will introduce different project organizational structures and their impact to projects. Let’s start the discussion with your insights about how different organizations treat projects. That is, based on the authority over projects, the ability to control resources, and real control over spending, we recognize functional, matrix, and projectized organizational structures. Please share your experiences and describe how projects are managed in companies you are familiar with. Please describe the relationship between projects and parent organization in terms of: authority of a Project Manager, resource availability for projects, who controls spending, and whether the Project Manager’s role is full or part time.
