In this course we highlight common patterns in the beliefs and practices of racial/ethnic groups within American society in order to help us:
To appreciate the rich diversity within and between groups in American society
To develop less sensitivity and understanding of encounters, attitudes, and practices surrounding death and grief
To see how difficult it is to understand other cultures and how we should not even try to make sense of them
To learn about customs that differ from our own that are “weird” or lacking.
