In spite of many benefits, there has been some significant backlash against global economic integration. Recent targets of protestors include the WTO Ministerial Conference of 1999 in Seattle, the G8 summit in Geneva in 2001, and the G20 summit in London, 2009. The majority of protestors are grass-roots organizations and NGOS whose demonstrations are often organized by non-hierarchical groups that share political goals. These include: the growth of global financial institutions, the growing income disparity between rich and poor nations, and the detrimental environmental effects of global trade. 1) As the PR executive of Wal-Mart, how would you address these concerns that global integration hurts, rather than helps, people all over the world? 3) Can you think of a way to integrate positively protestors’ concerns?
