Question: In recent years, many people have criticized the film and entertainment industries for promoting violence by exposing the American public, and particularly American youth, to extremely violent films and song lyrics. Do you think that the right to free speech can (or should) be traded off to reduce violence in in the United States? Generally, in the wake of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon, should Americans trade off some of their civil liberties for more protection against violence and terrorism?
