How revolutionary was the American Revolution? In other words, how different was the United States at the conclusion of the Revolutionary Era than it was at the beginning?
Please note: For the purpose of this essay, "American Revolution" and "Revolutionary Era" refer to the years 1776-1791-that is, from the publication of Thomas Paine's Common Sense to the ratification of the United States Constitution and the passing of the Bill of Rights.
