In class we discussed how some big questions in philosophy

In class we discussed how some Big Questions in philosophy are asked, and answered, by science and religion. The difference between philosophy on the one hand and science and religion on the other is the method it uses, namely the method of logic and arguments.

A) Why do philosophers need to give arguments? That is: why can’t we just state what we believe and leave it at that?

B) If Moral Relativism is true, what does that mean for giving arguments in ethics?

C) When arguing for a particular thesis, why is ‘Because this is what I was taught’ not a good argument for that thesis? If you can think of more than one reason why that is not a good argument, even better.
