Some supervisors and managers are inclined to resist succession planning for one particular reason that surfaces again and again: They see their well-trained key personnel moving to jobs in other departments and other organizations. They resent training people only to have them leave to go elsewhere.
You are to frame an argument that acknowledges this loss of trained personnel and accepts this phenomenon as a legitimate result of succession planning. In brief, you are to write as strong as possible a justification for practicing succession planning in spite of its apparent drawbacks.
