Essay 1: Plato, Republic, Book I
In a short essay (1-page, single-spaced, 12-point font) critically respond to one of our class readings. This will involve, first, a summary of a specific line of thought from the text, and second, a considered reaction to this line of thought.
Reactions may take the form of objections to the author's position or further elaborations of the author's ideas, perhaps in response to a possible objection. Each essay should engage with a different class text.
