1. The topic I have chosen for my paper is Gender Based Income Inequality. There is a gender based income inequality in America, because men make more money than women while doing the same type of job.
Ethos- Women who are as equally trained and educated, and with the same experience as men are not getting equal pay
Pathos- This form of inequality dates back for centuries and stems from the common belief that since men provide for women and women take care of the home and children that the men are more efficient in the career chosen.
Logos- The realization that men and women can have the same education, and women can accomplish the same tasks as men is rising and will continue to rise.
In a 2016 Article by AAUW The Simple Truth About The Gender Pay Gap "urges companies to conduct salary audits to proactively monitor and address gender based pay differences".
In a 2015 Article By PEW Research states that in their survey "and more women were more likely to say they had taken a career interruption to care for their family", which shows that these type of decisions can have an impact on long term earnings.
My only rebuttal at this time is why should it matter if a women lessen her work hours to care for her family, if she is qualified and continues to get the job done then the pay should speak for that. 2.
After considering the information in this week's instructor guidance and readings, I understand ethos, pathos, and logos to be key elements in my argument. My ethos will be used when I am writing my paper. My pathos will engage the audience to show my sources are credible. The logos will be factual and reliable sources. The rhetorical situation for this academic argument is the geriatric population is in great need of health care assistance.

Why is training, incentives, and financial status an issue, and how is this going to affect the health care professionals, and the geriatric needs in the future?

I think a training program for the caregiver of the elderly family member should be developed, and based on their specific needs, if they are homebound.

The medical schools can offer courses in elderly care, incentives, and hopefully encourage more students to participate.
