Assume that you are part of an office team assigned the task of improving the company's schedule for employee breaks and lunchtimes. The schedule was revised to prevent overcrowding in the cafeteria at various times throughout the day. The team recently submitted a proposed schedule to management and has just received approval. The new schedule will be effective on the first of next month. You have been asked to present this new schedule to the personnel in your department. You know that some people in the department are slow to accept changes. You also realize that some of the employees currently enjoy sharing their breaks and lunches with employees from other departments. Unfortunately, this may no longer be possible. Before you present the new schedule, you must be ready to address the concerns and needs of the personnel in your department. Describe how you would introduce this new schedule with the listener in mind. What listeners' needs or interests would you address? What listeners' advantages would you present? List some complaints and objections you might expect to hear from your coworkers. Explain how you would attempt to minimize these objections.
