Every student is expected to create an original response to the open-ended DB question as well as engage in dialogue by responding to posts created by others throughout the week. At the end of each unit, DB participation will be assessed based on both level of engagement and the quality of the contribution to the discussion.
At a minimum, each student will be expected to post an original and thoughtful response to the DB question and contribute to the weekly dialogue by responding to at least two other posts from students.
If you are planning to use a repurposed or reused assignment, please let your instructor know about it. If an instructor is not made aware of work being repurposed or reused, an instructor will treat the assignment as a plagiarized task and reserves the right to post an F grade and submit a task for review to Administration until proof of originality is provided.
The purpose of the Discussion Board is to allow students to learn through sharing ideas and experiences as they relate to course content and the DB question. Because it is not possible to engage in two-way dialogue after a conversation has ended, no posts to the DB will be accepted after the end of each unit.
Assignment Specifics
Working with others is a critical element of success regardless of environment. Therefore, this Discussion Board will give you a chance to review good group dynamics. This is particularly important for your future academic success because you will have courses that will require your participation in group related projects. For this assignment, complete the following:
1. Revisit the 5 stages of group development (forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning) and the group dynamics and roles covered in your assigned readings.
2. Post an initial response in the course discussion board area that meets the following requirements:
o Identifies the common group dynamics as well as roles that members play
o Identifies the roles that you believe will align with your strengths
o Clarifies what you believe is the importance of mastering group skills
