Discussion: Strengths and Weaknesses of BBS
Over the past 20 to 30 years, a behavior-based safety (BBS) approach has been implemented, in one form or another, in numerous organizations. After reading the materials provided, present an argument in favor of or against the use of a BBS approach.
Additionally, there are lots of organizations that utilize some form of incentives to motivate employees and/or managers to work safely and avoid accidents. Present your case for or against the use of incentives to motivate employee safe behaviors.
Lastly, given a choice, would you implement a BBS process or incentives to motivate workers? Briefly explain your reasoning.
