The trade war between China and the United States of America (USA) which started last year, would likely affect the global economy adversely. To-date, there is no clear sign of progress in the negotiation between the Trade teams from USA and China. In a globalized world today, not only the Chinese and American economies would be affected, many other countries were also affected indirectly by the slowdown in trade flows between that two nations. This trade war would likely lead to economic downturn in many other economies which rely on international trade to drive domestic production activities.
As an Economist working for a local Research Institute, you have been tasked to conduct a research and prepare a report on this trade war.
The report should cover the following key areas:
• Overview of the trade war.
• Impacts of the trade war on the economy and the society of USA and China.
• Economic and social policies implemented by the respective Governments (of USA and China) in response to the crisis.
• Your views on the possible outcome(s) of the trade war.
