Research Paper Outline
Intro - John: personal story about immigrant who went through the correctional system, why it matters/why should we care. justify why its an immigrant problem

1 - Kaylee: describe the problem, statistics about people coming into Los Angeles: how many immigrants come into the United States every day/year, gang violence, drug dealing, drug use,
drop-outs at school). state what is the problem - immigrants are coming and not having good living conditions - so they steal and do drugs to get rich the closest way possible. statistics - this many people come from south america, these many immigrant students are enrolled in public schools, and this many people are drop outs, don't have degree. this is a problem because all these kids are going into gangs to get rich, their only avenue. if other programs are opened up,

and education is more important, gives them a better chance for the future.

2 - Pablo: how to better regulate drugs  and get them off the streets. war on drugs basically. more specifically history of drugs in united states. 3 Strikes law,  prop 36 - made drugs nonviolent crimes. more specifics - more than 5 ounces of weed and they are black what are the chances ofthem going to jail over a white person. how war on drugs affects more people of minorities -
focus on immigrants somehow. come up with another proposition/solution/law that could help
fix this.

3 - Fatemah: how to improve parole and probation. how to better them. there's a lot of things wrong - the policies/laws. if a person is incarcerated and they go on parole and they jaywalk they are sent back to jail (bad). point out the policies and laws that are bad related to probation. these laws are too critical and forcing them back into prison.

4 - Yoon Jeong: improve education and prevent drop-outs, promote education. correctional programs. government funded programs, how much it costs to start it up, not private sector need to be government-run. how long the program is, how much it costs, in what places, is it proven to be effective. incorporate policy: prove why it is beneficial to make this into a policy (why its good to integrate ex-cons into society). Alliance For Change. stop funding the death penalty - the money that u save from that u put into a new program. new programs should be funded because

Conclusion - John: summarize everything professor's tips: resources, politicians - boosts the economy, filling low-salary jobs, ppic, justify why its an immigrant problem
