Egyptology and Archaeology
Imagine you are an Egyptologist encountering an astounding archeological find, such as the tomb of Tutankhamen found by Howard Carter in 1922. Which dynasty or pharoah would you hope your discovery would focus on? Explain your answer.
Consider the very different lives and legacies of the pharaohs Hatshepsut, Akhenaten, and Tutankhamen. As a student of ancient Egyptian history, which of them do you feel gives you the most insight into and understanding of this ancient and long-lived civilization and why?
Review the photographs of human images in Ch. 3. At times the figures are quite natural, but often they are quite rigid and stiff. And the painted scrolls do not even seem at all natural, but are "walking like an Egyptian." Select a single image and explain what the artist wanted the viewer of that time to "see." Also explain why you think your choice is portrayed in a natural/realistic way or is somehow unnatural and stiff.
